John Henry Zanter Sr. passed away Friday, January 5, 2018.
Services will be 2:30 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at
Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Rust officiating. Burial will be
at Gerald Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Monday, January 8,
2018 at the funeral home.
John was born February 13, 1944 in Waco, Texas to Henry E.
and Anna Magdelena (Wachsmann) Zanter. He graduated from La Vega High School in
1963. He worked for Stratton Furniture Co, Cameron Mills, LeHigh Cement Plant, Young Brothers and was a
self-employed farmer. He loved hunting and fishing.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda
Ann Zanter Meaders; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include his children, John Zanter Jr. and wife,
Tammy of Mart, Deanna Seale of Lacy Lakeview and Brian Zanter and wife, Mary of
Elk; grandchildren. Racheal Horsley, Christopher Cox, Brittany Cox, Zachary
Cox, Kaitlyn and Justin Seale, Kinsley Roddy, T. J. Millsap, Colby and Macy
Zanter, Kasie Blevins and Nikki DeShayes; 13 great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law, Scott Meaders; and nephew, Ted Thornton Meaders.
Pallbearers will be Colby Zanter, Justin Seale, Lance
Avants, Shane Avants, Matt Overcash and Kevin Dobecka.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Legacy Bass Club,
Ted Thornton and his hunting friends from the deer lease.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude
Children Hospital or American Cancer Society.
