Kerrville, TX Friday, July 28, 2017 My heart hurts for you all and I am deeply saddened to hear of Bubba's passing.I have many memories growing up with Bubba over the years. He would always jokingly pick on my little sister (he knew she was the mean one) and I can remember one day in Kmart when she kicked him in the shins and chased him around the aisle. It never failed when he would come out to visit, we could find a potato in the freezer after he left. He was famous for waking us up and telling us that we were late for school and the bus was at the road -- on a weekend. So many more come to mind and bring a smile to my face.
Great memories of great man who will be dearly missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Take care and God Bless you all. Love Yal

Austin, TX Friday, July 28, 2017 Thomas Lee May Jr. , "Bubba" was one of my best childhood friends from our early days of growing up in Lacy-Lakeview. We had a fight on our first day of school but then went on to become best friends, a friendship that lasted until he was taken from our little hamlet and sent to military service as punishment for relatively minor mischief. As childhood friends we shared many of life's experiences including those of elementary, junior high and early senior highschool. We played sports together, with Bubba always being the better athlete, we double dated the Blackburn sisters, and, along with Stanley Gregory, developed a love for motorcycles. (As the Harley tee shirt proclaims, " If I have to explain you wouldn't understand".)Early life events shaped Bubba, and he, like us all, benefited and suffered from his experiences. We grew apart after he was inducted into the military and after I left Waco in 1964, and our lives became dramatically different, but I never forgot Bubba. He was a truly unique person.
Being strong willed, fiercely stubborn and independent, and at times harshly blunt, Bubba projected a macho image that oftentimes concealed the kind and loving person many of us also knew him to be. He was a patriot and loyally served our country as a proud Marine, Vietnam veteran, and for that alone we all owe him a debt of gratitude.
And although news of Bubba's passing from this life causes sadness for many who knew and loved him, it is with a smile on my face that I choose to warmly remember the good times of our childhood and my time with Bubba May.
Goodbye old friend, you will never be forgotten. May you rest in eternal peace and may our merciful God forever bless your soul.
