Evelyn Margaret Uptmore Varner, 94, a retired homemaker, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Austin, Texas.
Evelyn was born on January 4, 1930 in Tours, Texas near Waco.to Thomas and Lena (Schutza) Uptmore. Her grandparents had come from the area of Frankfurt, Germany in the 1880's. Evelyn married George Washington Varner May 7, 1947 in Waco, Texas. They lived in Waco, Grapevine, and Austin. Evelyn will be reunited in heaven with her husband, George Varner; son, Gregory Varner, brother, Tommy Uptmore; sisters Betty Yoli, Delores Bair , and Magdalen Shelton.
Evelyn was a member of Waco Bible Chapel for many years and loved scripture, gardening, and making cookies and biscuits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors: Daughter, Nancy Varner Eubanks and husband, Gary of Leesburg, Florida, Daughter Kathy Varner deLaunay of Austin, Texas. Evelyn also leaves a legacy of eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Austin, TX Monday, February 19, 2024 I am so very sad, Mom. I know you are now pain free & happy to be in heaven with Dad, Greg & Lou. I just miss you. You are a great, terrific Mom & Grandmother. Mckinney, TX Wednesday, February 14, 2024 Mark & I have fond memories of Aunt Evelyn. She was very kind and attentive to us. Mark remembers when she was his Sunday School teacher at Waco Bible Chapel (?) in the early 60's. Aunt Evelyn had an earnest desire to tell people the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. We will be ever grateful that she led our previous Mom to the Lord Jesus Christ. She hesitated a bit, because she stated Mom was so sweet, but she knewthat being good doesn't give us access to God the Father's throne.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
v. 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Her life was certainly not lived in vain.
Her soul is at rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
